Guide and Resources to Support Evaluation of Clinical Fellowships
The guide was developed with colleagues who have been conducting their own research into fellowships – two of whom as part of HEE’s research internship programme in 2016/17. The background is that fellowships are inconsistently evaluated or not evaluated at all – and funding to commission external evaluations is very limited or non-existent, particularly in some smaller programmes. As yet there is a very limited body of research/literature on fellowships. This therefore provides a guide:
- to promote the need for evaluation of fellowship programmes;
- to support programmes that need to develop their own evaluation programme where they can’t commission an external evaluation;
- to bring some consistency to evaluation of fellowship programmes; and
- to use these to start to build a body of research/evidence on fellowship programmes.
