What do we mean by talent management?

Talent management is an organisation’s efforts to attract, identify, develop, deploy and retain skilled and talented employees. Its goal is to have people with the right capabilities, commitment and behaviours to meet current and future organisational success.  This means making sure that they have the right people, in the right roles, with the right values – who have access to opportunities, exposure, stretch and development to reach their potential, whether this be in their current role, or for a future role.

The drive for talent management has never been more important as it influences organisations to approach talent in a systematic way. It is now becoming a much broader essential management practice covering organisational capability, individual development, performance enhancement, workforce planning and succession planning at multiple levels.
